Job Summary

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional shopping experience for all guests by taking orders, making recommendations when appropriate, processing payments, and serving food or beverages to customers at the counter or table. Also perform other duties in the areas of food and final order preparation including preparing beverages and arranging food items.

 

Activities & Responsibilities

  • Receive and process guest payments.

  • Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, blended drinks, or teas.

  • Take guest orders and convey them to other employees for preparation.

  • Describe menu items to guest or suggest products that might appeal to them.

  • Clean service or seating areas.

  • Serve prepared foods, such as muffins, bagels and sweets.

  • Prepare or serve menu items, such as sandwiches or salads.

  • Set up or restock product displays.

  • Stock guest service stations with paper products or beverage preparation items.

  • Wrap, label, or date food items for sale.

  • Provide guest with product details, such as coffee blend or preparation descriptions.

  • Take out garbage.

  • Order, receive, or stock supplies or retail products.

  • Slice fruits, vegetables, & desserts, for use in food service.

  • Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment to ensure proper functioning.

  • Create signs to advertise store products or events.

  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.

Job Title: Drink/Food Service Chef

Reports To Kitchen Manager

 

Job Summary

Hiring smiling faces to prepare to order a variety of juice, smoothies, teas and foods that require only a short preparation time. Also perform other duties in the areas of food and final order preparation.  May take orders from customers and serve guests at counters or tables. 

 

Activities & Responsibilities

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Recipe Oak Cliff

  • Blend and juice smoothies, milks, coffee and tea.

  • Clean food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.

  • Take orders from customers and prepare foods, according to customer requirements.

  • Prepare menu items such as to-go sides and meals and assist with meal plan /catering food prep.

  • Prepare Recipe Oak Cliff products such as sealing and labeling products (snacks, teas, spices, other bulk items)

  • Restock kitchen supplies, rotate food, and stamp the time and date on food in coolers.

  • Perform food preparation tasks, such as making sandwiches, making soups or salads, baking breads or desserts, and brewing coffee or tea.

  • Plan work on orders so that items served together are finished at the same time.

  • Complete orders from steam tables, placing food on plates and serving customers at tables or counters.

  • Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen and dining areas.

  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.

  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.

  • Fill-in for fellow employees where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

Job Title: Kitchen Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, plate presentation, portion, cost control, and sanitation and cleanliness.

 

Activities & Responsibilities

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Recipe Oak Cliff

  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.

  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate cleaning schedules for kitchen floors, mats, walls, hoods, other equipment and food storage areas.

  • Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.

  • Check and maintain proper food holding and refrigeration temperature control points.

  • Control food cost and usage by following proper requisition of products from storage areas, product storage procedures, standard recipes and waste control procedures.

  • Instruct cooks or other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, or presentation of food.

  • Work with restaurant managers to plan and price menu items, establish portion sizes, and prepare standard recipe cards for all new menu items.

  • Supervise or coordinate activities of cooks or workers engaged in food preparation.

  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.

  • Inspect supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.

  • Ensure that all products are ordered according to predetermined product specifications and received in correct unit count and condition.

  • Ensure that deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant’s receiving policies and procedures.

  • Determine how food should be presented and create decorative food displays.

  • Prepare and cook foods of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.

  • Oversee the continuous training of kitchen employees on kitchen equipment, utensils, cleanliness, sanitation practices, first-aid, CPR, proper lifting and carrying techniques, and handling hazardous materials.

  • Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes or menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients or the likely number of guests.

  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs.

  • Meet with guests to discuss menus for special occasions, such as weddings, parties, or banquets.

  • Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.

  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offers suggestions for improvement.

  • Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests’ needs and support the operation of the restaurant.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in varied kitchen positions.

  • Experience with plant based and vegan food

  • Able to communicate effectively with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel, and guests

  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
